Business Change and Transformation

For a major initiative to succeed and deliver value, the employees of an organisation need to understand and embrace the change that the initiative is looking to deliver. So often organisations focus on delivering the tangible elements of an initiative, (process change, IT systems delivery, equipment etc) but fail to engage and prepare their employees for new ways of working. This often results in the initiative failing to deliver its potential or in some cases failing completely. It is of the utmost importance that focus and resource is given to help people through the change journey. Ideally this would begin at the same time a programme or project is initiated.

The services we offer:

We offer the following Business Change services:

  • Business Change process auditing

  • Business Change set up and delivery

  • Business Change mentoring and training

P3 Project Partners is trained and experienced in using the following methodologies:

  • PROSCI

  • Lean Change

Both methodologies can be used in an Agile or waterfall setting.

  • Business Change

    The Challenge:

To migrate a £13 million cloud services product from a single hosting environment to a common and secure cloud environment.

    What we did:

P3 Project Partners provided the following business change expertise:

    1) Using the DLOD process we mapped the current elements of the service and translated them to the target environment. This identified service gaps that had to be filled before migration could take place.

    2) We audited and identified weaknesses in the process and procedures for delivering the people side of business change and worked with the client to mitigate these weaknesses and deliver a robust business change strategy.

    3) We provided expertise in managing the change providing a delivery plan and by means of a series of go\no-go workshops. We also provided the messaging and communications of the status of the migration to the user base through approved channels.

    Results:

The migration to the target platform was completed on time and seamlessly, without loss of a single day of work or any system downtime or rollback.

  • Project Turnaround

    The Challenge:

To turnround a failing £40 million inflight project.

    What we did:

P3 Project partners provided the following project expertise:

    1) Instigated a review of the project work packages, identifying one package that was failing and causing the project delay.

    2) Implemented a critical chain project management process that reversed the work package slip from 3 months to 1 month.

    3) Monitored project resource usage and identified bottlenecks that could be resolved in a timely manner

    4) To embed the critical chain methodology, we created and conducted appropriate training and workshops for the project team along with daily follow-up meetings to embed the new way of working.

    Results:

Although the project could not be fully brought back on track, the interventions made by P3 Project Partners arrested project overrun and ensured that the final delivery could be completed in revised timelines.

  • Pre-Migration Consultancy

    The Challenge:

To review and make recommendations to ensure a client is fully prepared to migrate their IT platform, services and staff to a highly secure environment.

    What we did:

As part of a wider technical team, P3 Project Partners provided the following business change expertise:

    1) Conducted a PROSCI PCT analysis of the business to assess the preparedness to migrate.

    2) Conducted a 10 point impact analysis on the future roles and responsibilities of the staff once they had migrated to the target platform.

    3) Conducted a risk assessment of the proposed business change on the organisation.

    Results:

We delivered a detailed report covering all aspects of the migration and made over 30 recommendations that the client should implement prior to migrating.

  • Greenfield Project Setup and Delivery

    The Challenge:

To provide services to setup and deliver a £10 million project for a client who traditionally had delivered late and over budget on most all of their projects. They had won a new customer overseas and were keen to avoid all the problems concerning delivery and were looking to impress.

    What we did:

P3 Project Partners provided the following project expertise:

    1) Initiated the project using Agile principles and processes and amalgamating these principles and processes with the clients delivery methodology.

    2) Instigated the use of Kanban to track delivery and provide a visual reference for senior management to track the project.

    3) Implemented monthly retrospectives and planning sessions to learn fast and re-adjust planning and delivery.

    4) Recommended and implemented a series of training workshops with the overseas customer so that they could get up to speed on the system before delivery.

    5) Reduced project meetings from one 90 minute a week meeting to two 15 minute weekly sessions, focussing on what was causing pain and then resolving it.

    Results:

The project was delivered within budget and in fact made a 35% profit for the client. The overseas customer was so impressed with the service they had received that they have placed further work totalling £7 million.
